Product Description

The candidacy of Barack Obama has energized millions of Americans who have turned out in record numbers to participate in the 2008 presidential primaries. Much of his candidacy’s success has been built upon the support he has among the youth and other new voters. Obama has convinced them that he is the candidate of change. This book, written by three young voters, seeks to expose Obama’s background, his inexperience, his far left political agenda, and demonstrate that not all the youth are behind him. Through their leadership positions in national organizations, Bierfeldt, Gonzalez, and Steinhauser have had frequent contact with youth leaders on college campuses across the country. Through this book, they aim to challenge their peers (and others) to question their attraction to the Obama candidacy and his big government proposals - proposals which do not represent change, but simply the status quo. Real change would put power back in the people’s hands, not more power concentrated in Washington. This is the biggest problem in our political system and Obama doesn’t want to change this crisis, he only wants to exacerbate it. The rising generation today is fortunate enough to stand on the shoulders of the many generations before us that built America. Before this generation becomes responsible for handing over the sacred keys of the White House, we should ask, Who is the Real Barack Obama? This book arms voters with substantive research that they can use to learn more about where Obama stands on the important economic, national security, and social issues, and expose his background, character, and far left ideology. Whether or not you agree with his policies, after you examine the evidence that this book offers, you will begin to peel away the fiction, fizzle out the hype, and unmask the real Barack Obama.

This book is a must read for all, especially Democrats and Independents. As a former Gore and Kerry supporter, I was skeptical at first, but this book was an eye opener. This book looks at Obama’s record as a US Senator and attempts to do the same with his record as a state senator.

It also looks at the mentors who shaped Obama’s philosophy during the early stages of his adult life and political career. The authors do a good job at separating Obama’s philosophy from his speeches. They also do a good job at examining the liberation theology espoused by Obama’s former pastor Rev Wright. This examination refrains from discussing the controversial comments replayed during the last several months. Rather, it looks at the core philosophy of this type of theology and the implications it may have on an Obama presidency.

Overall, this book does a good job of showing that Obama’s centrist type speeches do not always ring true and it shows how he has some of the most far left views on taxes, government programs, education, abortion, and foreign policy. The only reason I refrain from giving it five stars is that the authors were not able to examine several of the records during Obama’s years as a state senator. However, they claim they were not able to do this because these records have been unavailable for public review.

I had a chance to read through parts of this book at a local B&N. I find it telling that none of the other reviewers commented on the amount of research that went into this book: very little. Any voter willing to educate himself/herself could easily look up Obama’s voting record online without having to listen to authors with an obvious agenda.

In other words, why spend $20 on this book when you could just use wikipedia to obtain much of the information presented therein?

I have grown very weary of Mr. Obama in the last few months and after supporting him early on, the more I learn the more scared I become. This book takes a close look at why this candidate is so popular and then exposes his real record on many issues. As a recent Harvard MBA graduate and registered democrat who has spent 12 years in high level corporate positions, I believe an Obama controlled US will suffer greatly in the world economy. I only hope more people seek a true understanding of the candidate they support.

This book brings to bear important information on the candidate that, until now, has evaded any real investigation. Hopefully this book will encourage a more careful analysis.

We all know the slick Obama who graces our television screens every night with promises of ‘change’, but who is he really and what is he all about? This book cuts right through the veneer to get straight to the cold hard facts about Senator Obama and his positions. This is a must read for anyone who wants to get past the hype and learn about the true Obama record.
